Luctor et emergo

Found this Latin phrase online today. In English, it translates to 'I struggle but I'll survive'.

It can be found on the emblem of the Dutch province, Zeeland. The emblem has a picture of a lion standing on two legs immersed in water till its waist.

Luv ya Dwyane Wade

Dallas Mavericks won in the first matchup between the teams (Mavs and Heat) since the last year's finals. The Mavericks never trailed as they surged past the Heat 99-93. Josh Howard scored 25 and grabbed nine boards, while Nowitzki tallied 22 points and 11 rebounds. Stackhouse added 23 points, 16 coming in the fourth quarter.

Dwyane Wade - who suffered a left ankle injury in the first quarter, but returned and played 44 minutes - finished with 31 points, six rebounds and six assists for Miami. I just love his ability to fight back and be there for the team even in times of injury.

Anyways, great going for the Mavs.

Fate

I am an ardent fan of 'Sex and the City'. Somehow, I identify with each of the four characters in the story. I find a little bit of myself in each of them. Anyways, I was watching it somedays back and one particular sentence stuck to me and I have been thinking about it ever since. 'Can the mistakes we make in life change our fate?'

Fate or destiny, as we all know, is a predetermined course of events. Now if it is predetermined, can we change it in the course of our lives? Each person has encountered situations in life, where a choice has to be made. Some of the times, we do know which choice is correct. But in some others, we do not. We just make the best possible choice based on the given conditions. We make choices based on what we think is right or will be right for us. These choices might not always be right for us and this we realise later. Now, I have made many mistakes in life and although I regret having made them, I realise that they have been a learning experience for me. Each mistake has made me stronger. But, did these mistakes contribute in changing my fate? However, if fate is predetermined, there arises another possibility – was I born with multiple fates? Is the path that I am following in life and the decisions and mistakes I make narrowing it to one?

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved."
